Founded by parents in 2009, Partnership for Extraordinary Minds (xMinds) is a non-profit group with the goal of improving the educational experiences and outcomes of students on the autism spectrum in Montgomery County, Maryland. Given appropriate support that addresses their unique strengths and social, emotional, and cognitive needs, students on the autism spectrum can learn the academic and adaptive skills necessary to pursue higher education and/or meaningful work. xMinds endeavors to create synergy among parents, educators, professionals, and policy makers that can lead to life-changing benefits for these students.
Our monthly speaker events give the Montgomery County community a chance to hear from local experts who specialize in improving the educational experience for students on the autism spectrum.
Our workshops offer families of students on the autism spectrum interactive experiences that educate and inform about strategies for succeeding in school and life.
Annual xMinds in MCPS Forum
Our annual “Extraordinary Minds in MCPS Forum” informs parents about public school placements and services for students across the autism spectrum in Montgomery County. Our Forum is an important service that helps parents participate meaningfully as members of their child’s Individual Education Program (IEP) team.
